Platform diversity

Inspired by a recent study (Isabell, Truman and Harcourt), the GIN group brainstormed about possible solutions to the apparent selection bias in invited speakers at scientific meetings.   A few themes emerged at the organizational level, including transparency, policy favoring diversity along several axes (for example, gender, minority status or career stage).  As individuals, GINners agreed that knowing the existing policies was essential.  Consider planning a minisymposium for SFN in 2013 or 2014.  The policy and process are here:
